Do I need a pre-auth with Kaiser Insurance?

Most Kaiser plans require an authorization for Mental Health services. Unfortunately we cannot obtain this authorization for you. You will need to call them and ask for it yourself and then provide us with that information before we schedule an appointment. Please see the directions below for how to get a Mental Health Authorization. 

Kaiser HMO & Kaiser PPO Customers: Please note that your insurance will not pay for any sessions until you obtain the pre-authorization prior to your first session. You will need to contact Kaiser to get the pre-authorization for services and then provide us with the reference number as soon as possible. We are sorry for this inconvenience, and hope that Kaiser will change their policies in the future so that our office may do this for you. We know it is inconvenient for you to do yourself.

Psychiatric Codes for Pre-Auth: Since you may be seeing an ARNP for your intake, you will need to ask for authorization for "CPT Codes" 99205, 99214 and 99215. You may also need an authorization for mental health counseling, and you should ask about the codes 90791 and 90837. Say these codes to your insurance and they will understand what you mean. 

Simply email that pre-auth number or reference number with the approved codes, number of sessions and date range to our office at billing@kinghealthassoc.com. Be sure to include your name as well.
